Q. Will I have to move out of my home while it’s being renovated?

A. Depending on the scale of the project, there might be a phase where a few days might have to be spent outside the home. However we always try to plan things so that there is a functioning washroom and access to water and electricity: the essentials. We do warn customers of any upcoming phases of the project that could include excessive dust, strong smells or products with longer dry times.

Q. Do you use licensed contractors?

A. Yes! All of our contractors are licensed and qualified to do the work in your home. We take pride in knowing that our team has the knowledge and experience to get the job done right.

Q. How long does it take to complete a major renovation?

A. You tell us! Nobody wants a renovation dragging on forever, but it will depend on your timeline and the size of the job. If you need a quick reno to put a house on the market or for rent, we can plan and prioritize to make that happen. If you have a custom project that needs commitment and attention, we will take the time to see it through to the end.

Q. Is it possible to repair or refurbish something in my home instead of throwing it out and replacing it?

A. Absolutely! We find that people these days are quick to throw things out that are perfectly good and just in some need of restoration. If you want to breathe new life into those solid wood floors or freshen up those kitchen cabinets, we can assess the work and come up with a great solution!

Q. Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

A. Yes. We will see your project through from start to finish, address any defects or damages, and make sure you’re satisfied with the work!

Q. Are you able to work on custom projects?

A. Custom projects are somewhat of a specialty of ours! If you have property on which you’d like to build your dream home, or a spot where you’d like to build a strip of rental units, we love to dive into the details and create a plan that brings your project to life!

Q. What is the process of a new build?

A. Building a new home can seem like an overwhelming process. At Excellent Choice Construction Inc. we will be with you every step of the way! We are dedicated to making everything understandable and enjoyable!

• Step 1: Design selections such as structural design, kitchen design, rough-in and appliances, exterior finishes, colours, interior finishes, and paperwork sign-off.
• Step 2: A structural walk-thru of your new home during the building process.
• Step 3: A pre-delivery appointment to see the finishes you selected, to learn about the maintenance of your home, and to bring to attention any corrections that might need to be made.
• Step 4: Preparation for closing, a courtesy notification about setting up your mailbox, utilities, insurance, and final lawyer’s appointment.
• Step 5: Final sign off, acknowledging that the home was built to satisfaction and picking up your keys.
• Step 6: Warranty follow up and ongoing care. Homes must be cared for and maintained. That is why a great warranty program is important, giving you peace of mind to enjoy your home.

Q. How long will it take to complete a painting project?

A. Like with most home projects, the timeline will depend on the complexity! If you want to paint a couple of bedrooms and a hallway with everything prepped and off the walls, we’ll be in and out in a day! If we need to do extensive patching and you’re looking to repaint your whole house along with baseboards, door and window frames and ceilings, then it’ll take a few days longer. Regardless, we’ll work with you so you can have complete, livable areas at the end of each day.

Q. Are your prices based on square footage only?

A. Our projects are priced based on your needs and the nature of the work- each house is different! We tailor the price to your budget, and we can add or remove things so you get the most bang out of your buck!

Q. Do you give free estimates and design advice?

A. Of course! We’re happy to meet with you to discuss your project so you have a good idea of what to expect, the work involved, the cost, and the final result. We can also talk about color choices and design ideas, based around the type of style you like, whether it’s contemporary, neutral, classic, clean, vibrant, or just practical- we can help!

Q. Do you have a warranty?

A. Yes. All of our work is under warrantee for up to a year. This includes workmanship and materials, however it does not protect against frisky animals or toddlers with crayons! We do however leave paint and can instruct you on basic touch ups so you can tend to your walls if any damage occurs.
